We're looking for a knowledgeable, confident, and community-minded volunteer to lead eco-action tours in their local area and help shape how visitors enjoy and give back to the destination. You'll draw on your own knowledge of local nature spaces, green corridors, and community initiatives to help us develop routes that are genuinely rooted in place, and then you'll bring them to life for small groups of eco-conscious travellers.
This is a hands-on role combining product development with in-person delivery. You'll run one tour per week for up to 12 people, acting as the face of Earth Stewards Travel Club in your area, and you'll have real input into the design of the experience rather than simply delivering someone else's script.
This role suits someone with local knowledge and a talent for bringing people together, who wants practical experience in sustainable tourism product design and group leadership with a mission they believe in. You will receive training in tour development and delivery as part of the role.
Product development
Share local knowledge of nature spaces, green corridors, waterways, community gardens, rewilding projects, and other sites of environmental interest in your area
Help shape tour routes, timings, and eco-action activities so they work practically on the ground and tell a coherent story
Identify local community initiatives, conservation groups, and environmental projects that could feature in or partner on a tour
Liaise with those organisations where appropriate, particularly where you already have existing relationships, to explore site access, joint activities, or guest speakers
Feed back after tours on what worked, what didn't, and how routes should evolve
Tour delivery
Lead one small-group eco-action tour per week in your local area, for up to 12 people
Welcome and brief attendees, manage the group and timings, and make sure everyone feels included and safe
Facilitate the eco-action element of the tour, such as a litter pick, planting, citizen science, or similar practical activity
Share local environmental and community context in an engaging, accessible way
Handle the practical side on the day: meeting points, equipment, weather contingencies, and accessibility needs
Community and continuous improvement
Encourage attendees to join the wider Earth Stewards community and return for future tours
Gather photos, quotes, and feedback from tours to support marketing and social proof
Work with the events marketing and partnerships volunteers so that tour dates, capacity, and promotion are joined up
Support the founder with any other product or delivery tasks as the programme grows
Essential
A genuine passion for sustainability, climate action, or conscious travel
Good local knowledge of your area's nature spaces, green infrastructure, and community initiatives
Confident leading a group: comfortable speaking to 12 people, holding attention, and managing a session start to finish
Warm and approachable, with an instinct for making a mixed group of strangers feel at ease
Organised and reliable: able to commit to a regular weekly tour and prepare in advance without close supervision
Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, remote team
Desirable
Experience guiding, teaching, facilitating workshops, or leading walks, volunteer sessions, or community events
Existing relationships with local conservation groups, community gardens, councils, or environmental organisations
Knowledge of local ecology, urban nature, history, or environmental issues
Experience in tourism, hospitality, or outdoor activity leadership
First aid training
Interest in community organising or grassroots campaigning
